Due to the power of Social Media, I saw that Sleepy Hollow Golf Course began servicing wings and even had a wing night on Friday. What really caught my eye was a wing sauce titled Morgan’z, and for those in the know, that was the name of a restaurant also known for wing in Scranton. So we made the visit on a Friday night, arriving around 5:45. When we walked in, there were plenty of seats to choose from, but the place did start to fill up the longer we were there. While we could have opted for a sit down table, of which there were plenty, we took a seat that the long, rectangular bar. This was my first time dining at Sleepy Hollow, but from what I hear, they have a pretty stellar outdoor area during the summer where you can get food and enjoy a band. Although our server/bartender was quick with food and drink orders, it did take a good bit of time for the wings to arrive.

Normally, you can get 10 wings for $14 during the week. On Fridays though, Sleepy Hollow offers a wing special, which lowers the price to $10 for 10 wings. The wings are about your average wing size. I had no problem taking down my usual amount.
Wing Flavors: 7
Sleepy Hollow offers more flavors than I expected for being a golf course. They have a lot of base flavors as well as combinations of sauces such as Honey BBQ, Porketta Ranch, and Garlic Parm options. They also offer some dry rubs, including a Spicy Italian Dry Rub, which I’ve never seen at another wing place. Be sure to look over the usual menu and the wing menu as there are some flavors that aren’t shared between the two.
Wing Taste (x2): 8
Sleepy Hollows allows you to split orders of wings, which is more than OK in my book because I love trying as many sauces as I can. First up, I wanted to see what their Hot was all about. I thought they knocked it out of the park with this one. It was a thinner sauce with a solid cayenne flavor. I really enjoyed this flavor because it tasted great and had a good balance of spice and flavor, The Caesar was a mix of the hot and Caesar dressing. I do wish there was more sauce as I could have gotten a better feel for the wing. It was a decent combination, but I felt like it was missing that wow factor. The Spicy Chili Pepper sauce is very similar to your classic Thai Chili sauce. It was a thicker, sweeter sauce up front with a sneaky spice that stuck with you after a couple wings. Finally, I wanted to try the Porketta Ranch. I thought they did a really good job with the balance of the two flavors here. I liked that the traditionally strong Porketta spice was balanced out by a slight, creamy ranch flavor.

Your NEPA Wingmen headed back to where they came from. Back up North to where they once called home, back to that crisp mountain air.
We traveled up the Eynon(we didn’t but I couldn’t resist throwing it in there, wink) and went to a place that has gone through a serious Jerry Jones level face lift and that is Sleepy Hollow.
If you’re an avid golfer like I am, you’ve played 18 or 19, depending on when you’ve been there last, at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Greenfield. Years ago, they didn’t have the upgrades to the clubhouse that they have now but man alive the transformation that they have gone through is very impressive.
The clubhouse has a full bar area with tables that has a a full separate room with tables. There is a lot of space and it is very clean and crisp.
In the Summer time, they have an outdoor area that houses a stage for acts which really makes Sleepy Hollow the place to be if you’re in the Greenfield, Scott Twp. area.
Our server was a nice younger dude who made sure we got everything we needed. There are a few TVs there to watch games if that’s your thing.
I’m giving it a 9 not because the atmosphere was this electric atmosphere or anything like that. I don’t think you’re going to get that there. Instead, you’re going to get tough, salt-of-the-earth folks who put in their time that day or are enjoying their golden years who once put their time in and just want to enjoy a solid night out.
Another cool aspect of Sleepy Hollow that lends itself to being all about the community is that they serve Gin’s Tavern Pizza. I thought that was cool and I’m pumped that just came back and re-opened. Maybe a trip is in order.
I also gave it a 9 because if the weather is right, you can shoot 9 or 18 and then go in and get some wings. First time we encountered that and I for one believe all gold courses should get in line.

Now remember, this category is as much about the size as it is about the price. Well, like this is the first golf course we’ve been to for wings, our crack team here at NEPA Wingmen believes this is our first Friday wing night.
Wings on their Friday wing night are $1 a wing. That terrific team I referenced in the paragraph above has told us that means you can get 10 wings for $10. They even said you can 20 wings for $20. Best team in the business.
The size of the wings is average meaning they’re not super large and they’re not tiny. You can get your standard order and feel fulfilled.
Oh, and you can split orders of 10 into 5s so you can multiple wing sauces. Always nice when that’s the case.

25 flavors are what you can get a Sleepy Hollow. That’s a big-time amount of flavors. They of course have plenty of sauces and also have a few dry rubs. You gotta love that variety or at least I think you do.
There aren’t any off-the-wall flavors or anything like that but you can tell a concerted effort was put into having all those flavors and I applaud and score effort.
A suggestion I have is to allow folks to combine flavors. Maybe you can already do that but if you can, I’d put it on the menu. With the number of flavors they have, you can have some absolute bangers created by combining.
Wing Taste (x2): 7
Solid work by Sleepy Hollow. Is there room to improve, in my opinion, yes. But all of us have room to improve.
I think the wings, themselves, can be crisped up a bit more. Just an extra minute or 2 in the fryer and boom, crispier wings. I feel that’s an easy adjustment. Maybe I’m wrong. As I’ve said plenty of times, I’ve never run a kitchen.
Let’s start with the sweet heat. There was more sweetness than heat. Not a big issue but yes, I would have loved to have more heat involved here. Still tasty.
Next was the taco. If you go into getting taco wings, you get taco wings. It had all tasting of tacos and who in their right mind doesn’t love that? The taco taste was there in all bites.
Moving on to the porketta ranch, one of my sneaky favorite flavors that exits. I could have used more of everything. More ranch and more porketta seasoning is naturally what this flavor needs to be flush with. There were some and they were alright, but I’m selfish and I wanted more.
Finally, the best one I had was the dry rub of the spicy Italian. I didn’t expect them to be that spicy but man was I wrong. They had plenty of spice to them. Got me right in the nose so you know it was good. The Italian seasoning was well pronounced but it was the spice elements that took it home for me. I highly recommend them.
