Mazie’s is a nice local bar located in the tendrils of the town of Throop.  Although it looks small on the outside, it is actually quite roomy inside. They’ve got darts, tables, and a bar smack dab in the middle of it. When I say it’s a local bar, I mean it is full of all the locals. Now, when I mention locals, I mean the good kind. Some locals are loco, but the crowd at Mazie’s seemed friendly and was more than likely to include you in their conversations, especially when the local new is on. We sat at the bar, so the service was pretty good. No issues with getting a drink and our food order. They do allow smoking inside, but they had the door open, so it wasn’t all bad. If you do go here, don’t expect a younger crowd. All the people we saw while we were there were in their late thirties or older.

I was happy with the selection of flavors at this place. Was it only because they had Teriyaki? No, but it didn’t hurt. They had a lot of your standard flavors plus a nice selection of interesting sauces.

I am still confused by the whole jumbo and small wing option at this place. We went on their Jumbo night, and the wings were your average-sized wings. I’m really curious to see how these small wings stack up on their $0.20 wing night. I have no idea what would make them half the price, unless they’re wing bites or something like that.
Wing Taste (x2): 6
I had a nice arrangement of flavors here. I tasted the Teriyaki, Caesar Garlic Parm, Creamy Lemon Garlic, Butter Garlic, Buffalo Sauce, and Hot Red Honey. I was a bit let down with the Teriyaki. There wasn’t much sauce on them and it wasn’t a very strong salty taste that I have grown to love in a Teriyaki. Caesar Garlic Parm were pretty good, but I wish they were maybe mixed with the Hot Sauce a bit more. They did have a nice Parmesan and Caesar taste to them though. Creamy Lemon Garlic were interesting. They were a lot like the Butter Garlic, with a slight hint of lemon. I wish there was a stronger lemon flavor here, but they were still delicious for what they were. I am never impressed by Butter Garlic. It’s a very basic sauce with not much flavor in my opinion. The Buffalo Sauce were pretty good. The wings overall did not have much sauce on them, and these wings could have done with a bit more too. It was a good Buffalo Sauce though. The Hot Red Honey were a pleasant surprise. The sweetness of the honey mixed well with the Hot sauce. I really enjoyed these wings.

When you go to Mazies for their wing night be ready to entrenched in a locals bar. Everybody there at the bar knew each other. It was pretty funny with them all yelling at each while we just sat and watched. It was really dark in there like unexplainably dark. That could be because no one was sitting at the tables. Fortunately for us, the people at the bar were really nice and didn’t mind when we interjected ourselves in to their conversation. Our server was real nice and attended to us in good manner. This is the kind of place you could go to and put a shift in and no one would ever guess you were there.

Surprisingly, there were a solid amount of flavors with different ends of the spectrum being represented. They have mild, mild garlic, hot, hot garlic, butter/garlic, bbq, honey mustard teriyaki that was in the menu. On a board on the wall they had 3 more flavors, which were hot honey, caesar garlic parmesan and creamy lemon garlic. I always love when I see extra flavors on a wall.

Something that happens at Mazies is that on Tuesdays they have “jumbo” wings for 40 cents and on Wednesdays they have smaller wings for 20 cents. I never came across a situation like thing. We went on Tuesday so we got the “jumbo” ones. Like I hoped the “jumbo” wings were pretty darn big. Some real whoppers can be had and for 40 cents, in these times that’s pretty good.
Wing Taste (x2): 7
The wings are good here. All that I had were above average. I ordered their hot, butter/garlic, Caesar garlic parmesan and creamy lemon garlic. The hot tasted like wing sauce you would get in the Valley like at Windsor and JW’s I know ive been writing that a lot lately but its true. Try them and you’ll see what I mean. The butter/garlic was pretty straight forward but what I like about them is that they loaded up on the garlic, enough for all 5 that I got.  The Caesar garlic parmesan were nice and balanced with every participant in the wing flavor accounted for. Finally, the best wing I had was the creamy lemon garlic. The lemon taste was undeniable and mixed with what I felt was Caesar sauce or perhaps ranch topped with the garlic made it most enjoyable.
