This is your typical, local sports bar. Lining the walls are pictures of either the New York Giants or the Valley View football team, the nearby high school. That being said, sometimes people want that environment, and this place exemplified it the best. It was a local bar without that alienated feel. On top of that, the bartender was very sociable and friendly. He really loved his TV shows and was arguing on behalf of Steve Buscemi for the majority of the time we were there.

These wings were very big. At $0.35 a wing, it’d be hard to find a bigger wing at the same price. I left Duke’s stuffed.

There were a good variety of wing flavors. It had a lot of your usual sauces, but the inclusion of the Citrus Barbeque and Boom Boom really put this high on the rating scale.

    Wing Taste (x2): 6

After reading the menu and seeing the Boom Boom wing, I had really high expectations. And any place that has a Teriyaki wing is OK in my book. The wings were crispy and rubbery at the same time. Honestly, I’m a rubbery man, but the crisp was nice. The regular hot sauce was your average hot wing. I’m not a huge fan of Barbeque, but the Citrus Barbeque was surprisingly enjoyable. The wings were completely drenched in the thick, barbeque sauce. I could definitely taste the Citrus on the wing. A barbeque wing with a bit of tang. Teriyaki is my go to, but I was let down by the Teriyaki at Duke’s. The sauce was really watery and ended up all over my plate. In fact, the sauce ended up running into my regular hot wings, tainting my opinion of the Hot. Luckily, the citrus barbeque sauce was so thick, it acted as a damn from the teriyaki. The Peno sauce was only average too, nothing spectacular. Finally, I had the Boom Boom, and I was not let down. The description of Spicy Cheese fits it perfectly. It could have called for a bit more sauce on it as the ones without much sauce tasted pretty plain. While the Boom Boom and Citrus Barbeque were delicious, the other sauces just didn’t do it for me.

For starters, the bar/restaurant was a very clean place. It was a horseshoe shaped bar that had a counter top that seemed pretty new. On the walls hung sports teams logos such as the Giants. This place would be a good place to watch a game. There are many TVs all over the place so the watching NFL on Sunday’s would be fine no matter what team you are for. The bartender was a pleasant guy but he knew other people in the bar so he spoke to them the duration of my time there. There wasn’t much interaction between me and the bartender.

These wings were large and in charge and for 35 cents it was quite the bargain. I left the bar full and that is very important to me.

Duke’s had about 12 different flavors of wings and some of them were ones I never had any where else and I love when that happens. There was one called Peno, which was a sweet hot/garlic mix that very tasty. Citrus BBQ, was unique in that you could distinctly taste the citrus in it. Lastly, there was Boom Boom, which was a spicy cheese sauce that was just dynamite.

    Wing Taste (x2): 8

The 4 flavors I got were hot, honey mustard, peno and boom boom. With the hot wings, they were surprisingly very dull. They weren’t hot or spicy and didn’t have much flavor to be honest. The honey mustard wings were like any standard honey mustard wings you get. Not bad, not great but they were solid and I was in the mood for that particular taste. Now the peno wings is where business picked up. They were a combo of hot, honey and garlic. My favorite part was that you really tasted the sweetness of the honey. It stood out to me. Lastly, the boom boom wings stole the show. A spicy cheese blend that didn’t let me down the boom boom wings impressed me the most. I confidently can say that the boom boom wings had more spice and hotness than the actual hot wings.
