I have never heard of Russen’s before and was very surprised when I walked into the place. From the outside, it looks like your typical town bar, but the inside was extremely clean and neat. There were a couple of tables, but the majority of the place is dedicated to the bar. There was a pool table and dartboard, and the floor was wide open in case there was a large crowd. On this night, there most certainly not a crowd. There were only 4 people total there, including the two of us. It would be a great place to hang out if they could bring in the crowd. The thing that really brought down the score was the waitress. It seemed like she was new to the job. She didn’t say thank yous or your welcomes when talked to. She was no very good on the upkeep of drinks and took a while to get our drinks. The wings came out in a timely manner, but that’s because there were 4 people there. If there was a different waitress, this place would have received a higher score.

The wings were a pretty good size. At $0.40 a pop, it wasn’t a bad deal at all. I didn’t come across a single small one among the bunch, which is a common sight at wing places. They’ll get a mix of big and small. You’ll leave Russens feeling pretty full.

The selection most definitely isn’t the largest around, and I’m not quite sure what is meant by Russen’s Special and Traditional, but you can get any combination of sauce, which really increases the possibilities. The waitress said the Russen’s Special was a bit sweeter, but I didn’t try them. It just sounded like the same sauce but sweetened up.

    Wing Taste (x2): 7

I liked the fact that you could get any combination of wings at Russen’s. I’m sure other places could do this, but it’s good that it’s right on the menu. I ordered the regular Hot, Hot Ranch, and Hot Garlic Parm. The hot was above par for most hots. A delicious flavor and a perfect combination of hot sauce, butter, and vinegar. The Hot Garlic Parm didn’t have much garlic flavor, but the parmesan cheese and hot sauce mix was very enjoyable. The Hot Ranch is the flavor to get. I do wish they were a bit spicier, but the flavor was still delectable. Some hot ranches at other places have too much of that ranch flavor, but these were the perfect combo.

Russens is a typical sports bar with several large flat screen TVs on the walls and with multiple dartboards and a pool table. I was also very impressed with how clean the place was. Nothing was out of order and the bar countertop had a new gloss on it. What was puzzling to me was that there were only 2 other people in the whole place. I don’t get it. The place seemed like it would have everything you need for a local sports pub. Who knows?

    Wing Size: 7

For 40 cents for their weekend, the size of Russens wings was very adequate. I didn’t leave hungry, which is all I care about in this part of the rating.

The flavor selection was not very extensive. They had you your standard hot and bbq along with butter/garlic, parmesan, ranch and hot ranch. However, they were smart in saying right on the menu that you could mix flavors. Not many places specifically include that on their menu and I usually wonder if that is possible. It was nice to be able to read it.

    Wing Taste (x2): 6

The wings at Russens were not bad nor were they exceptional. Real middle of the road kind of tastes. Their basic hot wing was very good I must say. It had a good dose of vinegar that gave it a kick. The butter/garlic wings and parmesan were just solid enough. And the ranch wings were tasty. The wing to get out of the whole lot of them is hot ranch. That taste jumped out at me as being the most flavorful.
