We’ve made a return trip to Smiler’s after more than two years away. And boy, did we miss it! Check out the Podcast Review at the bottom of this post!

Smiler’s is one of our favorite places to go. The wings themselves are super meaty and all their wing sauces are very delicious. In fact, the Teriyaki may be the best Teriyaki in the NEPA region. You can here all about it in the podcast, on top of a sweet reference to the famous wrestler Mankind. How can you go wrong?!

To check out our previous podcast on Smiler’s our read about our earlier visits there, head over to the Smiler’s Review Page.

This is our second trip to Smiler’s (the first time we weren’t writing reviews yet), and I have to say that I am as pleased with it as ever. It’s a corner bar/restaurant in Dickson City. It’s more of a restaurant, with plenty of seating within the establishment, but they do have a smaller bar area. It is much larger than it appears on the outside. It has a nice atmosphere and it a great place to meet up with a group of people. They have a pool table and a juke box for entertainment. It’s very clean and there is music always playing, so there aren’t those awkward moments of silence like you have in some bars. Whenever I go there, it’s pretty busy, but I never have a problem getting a table. Outside of the wings, the rest of the food is top notch as well. The waitresses were very nice (it seemed like we had 3 different ones during our visit) and seem to be good at their jobs. They even give you moist towelettes for when you’re done eating! I don’t know why, but I’m a sucker for moist towelettes. Another awesome aspect is that they don’t give you a minimum of how many wings you can have in an order. A lot of places will say five is a minimum, or even ten. This place said you can place orders of three if you wanted. I’m sure the cook isn’t the biggest fan of this tactic, but it allows people to get more flavors in a smaller quantity. One negative with the place is that they don’t specifically list their wing flavors anywhere. Both times we went, the waitress said they have anything. I highly doubt that’s true. I can’t imagine them having a rust wing or a motor oil wing, but eventually the waitress did name some flavors for us. The one we have listed may not even be all of them, but it’s what was told to us. One other minor issue was that it took a while for us to receive out check. Perhaps this was due to three different waitresses working our table, but it was one small setback against all the other positives.

    Wing Size: 7

We have been on a roll for going to wing places with $0.35 wings. It’s nice to see people still have that lower wing price on their wing night. The wings were a good size for the price.

    Wing Flavors: 8

Again, I’m not sure if I have all the wing flavors listed, but what I was told showed a large variety in flavors as well as uniqueness. All my favorite flavors were accounted for, which makes me a happy wingman.

    Wing Taste (x2): 9

I placed orders of four and ordered the Hot, Peanut, Asian, and Hot Garlic Parm Caesar. No, the world has not ended because I didn’t order Teriyaki. There were a group of us this time, and someone else ordered the Teriyaki, so I decided to get a different flavor (even though Teriyaki is my favorite flavor of wing). The wings were just as good as I remembered. The hot was a traditional hot sauce. It was thick and was a nice combination of spiciness, butter, and vinegar. The Peanut wing is not for everyone, but I highly enjoyed it. It is a very thick sauce with a strong taste of Peanut. They were very good. The Asian from Smilers is one of my favorite wing flavors, and it still continues to be. It is much like an Asian Sesame from a Chinese restaurant – sweet, spicy, and delicious. The Hot garlic Parm Caesar were great, although I do wish the Caesar flavor came through a bit more and there was a bit more of the sauce on the wing. It is difficult to mess up a Teriyaki wing, and the saltiness may turn some people away, but I highly enjoyed them. The honey mustard did not disappoint. Even though I am not the biggest fan of Honey Mustard, these were pretty tasty. The only bad wing of the bunch was the Butter Garlic. They didn’t have much flavor at all. It tasted like a fried wing with some garlic. The butter was hardly there at all. I highly recommend Smiler’s for their wings and their food in general. It’s an awesome place.
