As you make your way down Green Ridge St. in Scranton, you will pass by one of my favorite outdoor-eating establishments: Morgan’z Pub & Eatery. In fact, every meal I have eaten at Morgan’z has been on their large, partially covered patio, which does have heating in colder temperatures. The patio has a number of TVs, making it a great place to catch a game with a group of friends. If sitting outside is not your thing, they do provide plenty of seating inside at their bar or one of their many dining tables. Our waitress was very good at her job and always stopped by to check on our drinks and status, even though the place was busy for their wing night. Our orders of wings did take a while to arrive, but that’s to be expected, especially as you see tables around you getting large quantities of wings, too. Even though we are The Wing Men, Morgan’z has a large menu bound to make anyone happy.

The size of the wings at Morgan’z left me wanting just a bit more. The wings are normally $7.95 for an order, or 49 cents each on Thursday, which is their wing night. While these aren’t baby pigeon wings that you find at other places, I could have done with a bit more meat to satisfy my appetite.

Expect to find a nice variety at Morgan’z. For the traditionalists out there, they serve your Mild, Medium, Hot, and BBQ wings. They also make some interesting choices like Spicy Chili Pepper, Bourbon Molasses, and the Morgan’Z. Check out our website or stop in at Morgan’z to see the full listing of flavors. Also, be sure to ask your waitress for any flavors not on the menu as Morgan’z sometimes offer special wing sauces.

Wing Taste (x2): 6
I ordered a couple of different sauces at Morgan’z since they allow you to get a minimum of five wings. The Spicy Chili Pepper is a thick and sticky sauce with a sweetness to it. Although I could have used more spice in my sauce, it was still a good wing. The Hot Garlic is a mix of their traditional Hot sauce with minced garlic thrown in to kick up the flavor. The Sweet & Sour is exactly what you’d expect. It’s a mostly sweet wing with a touch of tanginess to give it a different, but enjoyable taste. Finally, the Bourbon Molasses was my favorite out of the bunch. The flavor is very reminiscent of a Jack Daniel’s sauce packed full of great flavor. You cannot go wrong with these wings.

Morgan’z, the pride of Greenridge St., is a large restaurant/bar that’s a good choice no matter what you’re trying to accomplish. If you’re there with family, you can sit on the inside away from the louder crowd. If you’re there with friends to relax and vent about your work day or lack thereof, the outside area is perfect for you. If sports is on your mind, then the big tvs at the bar in outside is where you need to sit. If you’re plan is to get weird on a weekend then please, go outside. What’s great about the outside area is that it seems that they still use it during the winter because they have heaters and heavy duty tents. The service was fine, although my order got a bit jazzed up, but these things happen.

Make sure you order about 5 more than your usual order if you’re making wings your main meal of the night. They aren’t the largest wings you’ll ever have. They are priced at 49 cents a wing on their wing night.

13 flavors to choose from ranging from mild and hot to spicy chili pepper and bourbon molasses is what you get here. I wish they’d incorporate ranch into some of theirs sauces because I feel it’s just an absolute good. They also have one called MorganZ, which is a bit of a mystery but I think I know what it is. Let us know what you think it is.

Wing Taste (x2): 6
Like I said, I ordered the Morganz wings, which I’ve had before and thought I knew what the mystery flavors were but instead I go a hot parmesan style wing. They were a nice substitute. They had a nice spice to them and they were well-coated with parmesan cheese. Next, I got the butter and garlic. They weren’t interesting because they weren’t your traditional butter and garlic wings. The butter and garlic sauce on these were exactly that, a sauce. Honestly, there were okay but I would have preferred the traditional version of butter and garlic. I appreciate the creativity with it. Lastly, the spicy chili pepper was the best I had. It brought spice and heat from all types of angles. The chili notes were abundant as were the tangy seasonings that ran throughout this sticky sauce. It reminded me of an Asian sauce that you’d get.

I have been to Morganz three times, and I have yet to sit inside. Whenever given the opportunity, I will always sit outside. The outside seating area is pretty cool as it has a part that is permanently covered by a tent, and another part that’s out in the open. I was thankful they had covered outdoor seating this visit because there was a massive downpour while we were there. That may deter some people, but I can enjoy a great lightning storm just as much as a sunny day. The back patio has plenty of seats for chilling, as well as a bar area and a section dedicated to a grill on those days they make hot dogs and hamburgers outside. They also have TVs in the outside tent area. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. She was pretty fast with our food and drinks and allowed us to split the check. Overall, a pretty great experience.

It’s strange, but they don’t list the flavors on the menu, so you have to see what they have on the whiteboard at the entrance of the restaurant. I can’t guarantee the flavors I have listed will be there when you go, but it seemed to be the same flavors that were there last time.
Wing Size: 5
These wings were only all right based on the price.  The majority were a bit on the small side, but you would get a massive wing tossed in the bunch every once in a while.
Wing Taste: 7
I ordered Bourbon Molasses, Hot Garlic, and Hot. The Hot were decent enough. They did not blow me away. They are on the same level as other Hots that you’ve had at other places.  The Hot Garlic were a step up from the Hot. I’ve noticed that is mainly across the board at all places. I’m a huge fan of garlic, and that extra flavor is nice in my book. The Bourbon Molasses pleasantly surprised me. I was expecting a BBQ type sauce, but I would describe this more as a Sweet and Tangy sauce with a bit of smokiness and a even smaller bit of BBQ. It’s a thicker, brown sauce that is very enjoyable. I also tried the Spicy Chile, which were just awesome. It’s very much like a General Tso sauce. It was very thick and had a great spice to it with the addition of the chili peppers. I highly recommend this wing.

One of the best parts about Morganz is that they have an outside back area equipped with bar and tables. Eating outside is always fun to do and they do good with that. On this particular day, an absolute monsoon ascended on Scranton and pulverized the area. Fortunately, Morganz has a heavy duty tent that those goes around the back area. Our server was on point the time we were there, which is all I ever ask for.
Wing Flavors: 7
Some interesting flavors can be had at Morganz. They have hot, sweet and spicy honey mustard, hot garlic bourbon molasses, spicy chili and Morganz itself.
Wing Size: 6
They aren’t tremendously big at Morganz and for 45 cents a wing, which I realize is becoming the norm around here, you may feel hungry after your meal. Just make sure you order enough.
Wing Taste: 7
I ordered hot, Morganz, spicy chili and honey mustard. They were somewhat spicy and they had good flavor to them. They certainly were not dull. The honey mustard were typical honey mustard that you get pretty much any where. The spicy chili were exactly that. Excellent flavor and they were hot, which is tough to get any more unless you order some kind of extreme hot wing. Now the Morganz wings are interesting. They are a bit of a mystery. I think they are a cross of their hot with some of their bourbon molasses mixed in. You may feel different and if you so let us know.
